beSearch is a European search engine built for people who care about privacy.
No tracking, no user profiles, no ads. Just results.
Our servers run on Hetzner infrastructure in Nuremberg, Germany — inside the EU,
subject to GDPR and European data protection law.
How it works
Every search query goes through a multi-layer pipeline:
Brave Search API — our primary source, an independent index with strong European coverage.
Mojeek — a UK-based independent crawler used as fallback, never reliant on Google or Bing.
Bing (via SearXNG) — last-resort fallback only.
On top of the raw results, beSearch applies its own ranking layer that boosts European sources,
penalises spam, and surfaces instant answers (calculations, unit conversions, Wikipedia summaries,
weather, and more) without sending your query to a third party.
What we don't do
No tracking cookies
No user accounts or profiles
No advertising
No selling of search data
No storing of identifiable queries
Built on the shoulders of giants
beSearch wouldn't be possible without the many open and freely accessible
projects, APIs, and public data sources we rely on. A big thank you to:
Wikipedia — summaries and knowledge panels via their REST API.
Wiktionary — instant dictionary definitions.
Open-Meteo — open-source weather forecasts, no API key needed.
civicAPI — live election results across multiple countries.
